Imported trees coming to the US

First post here just to say, this whole reply reminds me of one of those Honda drivers that says I'll build the block and put a 100 shot of NOS on it and smoke your Ferrari... Still a Honda.
Seeing it is your first post here I would suggest not getting in the middle of this mess with talk of Honda's...
Clearly you either didn't take the time to read or understand what I said before commenting? If so, you perhaps would of not posted something so dumb? Who knows?

Self proclaimed righteousness??? Who me?

I'm just a bonsai freak who's survived two bouts of cancer and figures he needs to enjoy bonsai now!

Stacey... About this stuff about everyone needs to learn to make their own... How about those scrolls you sell? Taking your logic, people shouldn't buy your scrolls, they should learn to make their own!

Look, there's many ways to enjoy the bonsai hobby.

Some like to start from scratch. Some like to buy finished trees and have others take care of them. And everywhere in between. It's all good.

The Itoigawa is doing fine. There's still way too many branches, but now that it can get light in the interior, it should start backbudding. It's still dormant. We had a bit of snow yesterday!
Yeah, the self righteous part clearly was not aimed at you, I think we all know that.

As far as your thoughts regarding scrolls, I would say the Yes... it is my own personal opinion, that if one is in the art of "Scroll-making"... then yes, one should perhaps try and learn how to actually make a scroll. I think this would probably be a forgone conclusion, but that is just me?

I have only and will continue to only voice what I see happening... for some perhaps, this is not an issue. That's fine, don't have a problem with that... but for me, my views are that if one is claiming to be doing an Art... then perhaps they should actually do the art? But, then again, I am kinda weird like that...

I don't think one should be considered snobby, elitist, what ever for feeling this way. I want to see personally what people can do, I want to see their vision hear their voice, view their art, not someone else's. What is wrong with that?

Survived one round of cancer 10 years ago that's when I starting playing with trees in pots too! Couldn't do much else wasn't even supposed to be around flowers during chemo. Glad your still kicking keep it up#

If one does not like imported trees and one does not desire imported trees and one cannot afford imported trees, maybe one should just not click on the imported trees thread? Please?

That's ok, Stacey, carry on!

Actually... I joined awhile ago and this is the first time I've felt the urge to post, like my coming out party! Now I've read and reread you're posts not to mention a couple of your other posts "fascinating Home Depot material"... which I have my own as I'm sure many here do, but your " elitest artistic" attitude is just to much... Regardless of my " post count" I just can't enjoy your replies as they all seem to have a bit of a haterade vibe to them... But you're right I best not get in the middle, wouldn't want to get off on the wrong foot and ruin my internetz rep.

Do you have to be an artist to appreciate art? I got in the game late (3 years ago) I've passed the half century mark. I don't have time to grow seedlings. While I am working on a few trees, I need to give myself a head start to see an end game before it's over. I have bought an import or two. I plan on having one styled by an artist, and this is for me! While you can learn more by doing, it doesn't mean you learn nothing by watching.

At least this is a bit better than comparing cars? I think?
I personally could care less about anyone's internet rep, post count, or how long one has been a part of this site...

I do find it astonishing though that with your first now couple of posts here, and with your coming out, you decided to not post anything regarding actual Bonsai, but instead decided to try and rip into me.

Sorry, but I don't think you have earned this privilege yet... how's that for elitist artistic attitude?
Post something of value, then we will talk. Sound good?

No one said you have to be an artist to appreciate art.

No one said you cannot learn by watching.

Sure ... Should I start with my clearance procumbus or my $2,500 import? Wouldn't want to offend anyone...

Post what you are proud of and try less to be a smart ass...
This site is about Bonsai, about discussing and talking about bonsai.
Yes we argue and disagree sometimes, but we also talk bonsai, so far you have only done one.

Can I be proud of a tree I bought?

being a "seed" sucks can I buy a masterpiece? Or is that frowned upon?

I feel like I am in another fire fight where the only thing to do is keep your head down.

Post a picture of what you have if you have anything yet. Don't worry about quality you have to start somewhere. Often it is better to start with small stuff and have someone go harumph than it is to have the same individual point fingers because you killed a $2,000.00 dollar tree. You will find a lot of people that will take a personal interest in helping you down the path and enjoy doing it.
