Hi fellow bonsai people

I honestly don't know what to do, I fear the worst and was never in such a situation before. This Mugo has gotten enough yellow needles in the last week to concern me quite a bit. This was repotted over a month ago. Some root mass was cut away, but like not even 1/5 of the whole thing and repotted in a pond basket. Weather so far was quite mild, rained a lot and never really hot. The discoloration started like 2 weeks ago, but just very slightly. Some have already told me it could be just old needles shedding, but currently needles everywhere start to slightly lose color and go just a tint yellowish. Tree has a trunk of like 2.5 inches for reference. Also the discoloration takes place on older needles but also on the very tip of branches. Can someone please help me with dissecting this problem, and to categorize it in either existential threat or just overwatering? That's just what I suspected at first, but since noticing the issue, I have watered like once every 5 days. Definitely watered more in the beginning. Thank you for reading and for any suggestions and help

looks very much like a heavy fungal infection. Needlecast comes to mind. I do not know of legal antifungal treatment in europe available for individuals. I have one that did this, but in spring as candles were pushing and I defoliated. Lost a lot of growth but because there were moving candles it recovered. Would not do that now.

Maybe contact a professional nursery; they might have the right chemicals

Thank you Jelle, big fan. I will get in touch with my local nursery and see if they have something that might help me.

After taking this photo, I removed the off white bit appearing at 1 o clock in the photo. It felt papery and fuzzy. Not sticky.

In this case looks at least like Oyster scale. Have had this on a number of our incoming pines… and I thought we’d checked all these tree needles!

Would scrape it off the entire tree longitudinally down the needles-with tweezers and or fingernail. If really want to get rid of it all, likely will take a couple years and a systemic to put it down.

Cheers

Thank you for the benefit of your experienced eye. I’m going to scrape each needle tomorrow and look into an appropriate systemic. I collected this tree this year and it has seemed unhealthy for months!
