Here is tree # 4, the before pic taken a few days ago before needle pulling and wiringpic 1.jpg

This is the only tree out of the four where I had total control of the shape as it was a one year old seedling when I got it and the trunk was still bendable. I gave it a slight curve and let the years do it's thing on it. pic 3.jpg

At two years it's doing real good and its future looks bright. pic 4.jpg

A few years later the trunk has thickened up nicely for shohin size and I now make my chop and start the new leader process. pic 5.jpg

Let it grow long and thicken and then cut it off when the taper is right. As I said, none of these trees will be works of art but the years of seeing them come into something better than they started out, made it all worth it.pic 6.jpg
