I got some netleaf hackberry seeds planted. They should be interesting
Didn’t realize it till later, I ended up with a spiny hackberry that have the zig zag branches and grow some serious thorns later on. It’s so tiny.

Heard that I’ve been wiring trees at the studio for past months
Ok, I finally broke down and began the repotting production line. On today‘s menu were largish trident, juniper and lilac bonsai, followed by a medium juniper and a small yew.

Tomorrow will be a slow day, with an English hawthorn and likely begin the root wash of the seemingly endless satsuki with goal to relocate them from the nursery grow pots into training pots in our very own secret Kanuma blend. (Which I already posted numerous times on site😉)

Good luck everyone And have fun!

Worked on and off, but got it cleared and cleaned up

Next is to grade this area for drainage, lay shade cloth, and put down gravel. Got a 14x25' area to do

Finally got to do something other than look at frozen trees. Repotted about 15 trees big and small. Then came the cold and I moved them all to an indoors bathroom and shut the heat there. My wife is a saint.

tales of victory and defeat - my “double trunk” Arakawa turned out to be two separate Arakawa. WIN. A nursery stock maple turned out to have a massive octopus like nebari. On the other hand, I appear to have butchered my stewartia.

Area graded easier than I thought. Put gravel down. Now it looks really classy

There’s a spot yet to have gravel because I’m going to be finishing up some concrete work there, so will put gravel down once that’s been finished. That’s sort of what that random pile does gravel next to the wall is for

I’d lie to do another strip of shade cloth, but need to grade that part

Need to think about that bench shade too…

Without knowing the orientation of the sun to those benches and that concrete wall, I can't be sure... but... you may end up cooking your trees given your locale and the benches' proximity to the concrete block wall if the sun hit's that wall for more then a few hours in the morning.

It’s a north wall. It’s the only spot I have to use. I knew that when setting the bench up
