JM progression

Probably have a fall pic somewhere will post if I find it.. but doing a bit of winter maintenance on this guy today... not much actually as it may not be a masterpiece this is one of my favorites I crafted from a cutting to a Bonsai and this year I am setting a goal of reducing internodes and increasing ramification. The trunk isn't monstrous but is curvy and mature enough to suit the tree right now. After the thread graft worked out last year, the roots are coming along nicely- may do another this year... but today I am clipping twigs that have gotten too long and for the first time in my Maple "life" I feel I have a tree ready to get the middle buds removed as the new growth emerges to promote short, twiggy growth... rapid expansion and scar healing is no longer the goal for this tree!

This is the little changed "after" pic.. showing some lob internodes removed- most noticeably the big thick ines at the top.

Still may shorten this guy more one day- cutting back to the second bend from the top... in pics it looks like it needs it, but in person I like the height where it is now...
