Kamuning Bilog: "The Pride of Pangasinang"

I tried to look up the scientific name for you, no luck. Did you know Pangasinang is not only the name of the province, but also the language and the people of the province? 6th largest ethnic group of the Philippines.

Wikipedia has all sorts of things except the one that I was looking for.

Thanks for making that effort, and for the additional info about the province, language and people. They have a little cluster of very nice relatives and friends that we've gotten to know, and both they and their collected trees and artistry are a very welcome and wonderful find here. I gave a copy of my book to what I thought was the head honcho of the group, but I think I was wrong, and anyway they all now want one (but I only brought a box of ten, and they have to be carefully rationed). They're young, and very talented, but feel constrained by "The Rules" imposed on any trees allowed into shows and contests, rules that are very rigid and highly stylized and result in boringingly uniform looking creations: they got a wiff of Dan Robinson's "Naturalistic" approach with the book, and with their discussions with me over their many fabulous trees, and they were just on fire with the worlds it was opening up for them, the permission it gave them to bring out their trees' natural beauty they way they saw it. Great folks there.
