Limber pines

Has anyone had any luck with limber pine? Or know someone who has? I've been working with one for several years now (Pinus flexis 'de funny') and it is so pathetic looking I'm embarrassed to post a photo. Jerry Meislik has a few good looking ones on his website but other than that, they seem few and far between.

Hey Barry;

Not ignoring your post - I just have never worked with them. I happen to like five-needle pines, but it is tough to grow them in Southern California without a reasonably cold winter.

I keep looking for a limber pine with potential and I can't find one. If you find one, let me know.

Oregon Bonsai has been collecting them in small numbers for a few years. One of the local club members has a great one in development, and I have my name on one that is yet to be collected. I believe they are treated similar to Western White Pines as far a substrate, watering and fertilizing. However, I am not positive, and maybe Jason can pop on and give us a little more info.
