I buy nearly all of my junipers from landscape nureries. For about $20 you can find some with fairly thick trunks and intersting angles. I have bought six, trimmed them back and then planted them in the ground to encourage more rapid growth. Of course, if you live in Northern Ca. you might find a source for yamadori sierra juniper.
