Picked up this bald cypress from a local nursery, cant find any info about it.
Any idea if this a growth issue?

Rishi.

I don't think you have a Bald Cypress...
The trunk color and foliage is not correct...

I'll try getting a closer picture, but its really a bald cypress these pictures are a bit fuzzy.
I asked the nursery if it was some different type but was told that was really the only one that came like that and the guy was going to keep it if I didn't take it.

Ris, fall is coming soon enough. There aint that many deciduous conifers to pick from.

I wouldn't buy a bald cypress pencil thick seedling for more that $10 this and others (same batch) was 4 times that. Only got it because of the very tiny leaves. So I really didn't buy it because its a bald cypress if you know what I mean.

Almost looks like a Canadian Hemlock...

I would lean towards some type of Hemlock. I know it is not a Bald Cypress - not even close to any we have and several are that size as well as larger and smaller ;)

Can you post a picture of what you think it may be?
On a few of the branch closer to trunk has longer foliage but tapers towards the tips.
I don't have hemlock so not sure what it looks like.
I dunno am confused lol.
Thanks.

No way a hemlock would be in a S. CA nursery-wouldn't live even a year. Still thinking yew.
Can you post another shot with something-adime?- to show scale.

I'm with BP

My vote is still on the Redwood Cypress...
The second pic has the same symptoms as does Ris tree...

A lot of folks get these and Bald Cypress confused when they are young.

I have a couple of bald cypress. That foliage is off. I will try to snap a pick of my BC foliage tomorrow.

Guys I have both dawn redwood and bald cypress in my collection, let me get another pic with a dime.

So tried to zoom in on a couple pictures, it doesn't look like a dawn redwood but on the branch with longer foliage it looks more bald cypress... Well what can I say this is the reason I bought the thing lol I knew it was a one and only. Here a couple more close up.

Looks like a yew or some sort of torreya.....I think california has a native plum yew species....

Looking more like a yew then anything else I can think of- one with tiny foliage though.
If you ever make it to the San Fernando valley maybe you can bring a small branch by.
