Mound Juniper discussion

I just bookmarked your blog, the gardenworks looks like an interesting place but it's almost in Rhode Island. I'm wondering what they charge for shipping.

Be mindful reading my blog. Only thing you'll learn is how to kill your trees. Maybe it's useful for what not to do. :D

OK. I'm subscribed to notifications and I get a notifications for giving someone a like? "I understand things may or may not be useful"? This is getting insane.

maybe if you stake it up...then it will be under control and will react favorably by eating the chicken sht you throw at its feet. who knows, it might just grow faster

Hey the bonsai is what it is Nana' it is a good resemblance of a serpent. I'm not gonna change that. For starters like me I can learn from it. So far I wired 3 branch's and took one off " the first wire was a trial and error thing". So 2 wires on the bottom which makes the bonsai look like it's coming together. Now the 3 bottom branch's are spiraling. I can imagine by next year those pads will fill in nicely. They're not too close together! The trial an error was a branch about in the middle that was cut short about an inch and a half long growing in the wrong direction. I nicked the bark so I removed the wire. I can't wire anything else until I get smaller wire in a week or two. With smaller wire I have lots of wiring to catch up on. I don't know if I'm doing it backwards but my plan is to wire it and then trim or prune the pads, so I can see how it would look if it all grows back.

It's time to reexamine the carriages and horses....

The bullets and guns....

The backwards and forwards.....

I am all about practice....
But in the awareness that it is practice...
Not that it Will work.
Or not that it won't take close to forever to get there.

G52 is so badass my Wills always get Capitalized!

Now we are at....

Having a car in the garage....
Motor...body etc....

But doing all the electrical, ignition, lights, etc..in the house..
Leaving it there.....

And expecting the car to run..

Does that one work?

Did we ever figure out where it was you got this misinformation in the first place?

This is somebody's Clytus....
I know it.

I'm not gonna change that
not saying you should, lending a bonsai or penjing a likeness to animals is as old as the art itself...I just brought up that fact to give it a nick....not to mock it:rolleyes:
Now the 3 bottom branch's are spiraling.
this is so wrong on so many levels even on the lowest level of the tree or mastering
I nicked the bark so I removed the wire
in future you will understand that nicking the bark is not a biggy at all, I nick a lot and just keep on spiraling the wire around the branch
I don't know if I'm doing it backwards but my plan is to wire it and then trim or prune the pads
like the backwards man

I'm not too sure about acclimation when it was shipped from a warmer climate and everything.

It should go outside to a Sunny location for the remainder of this Spring and Summer. Keep it damp NOT soaking wet. It should put on noticeable growth with that care. If it does you can Winter it on the ground outside this year. If it does not - put it in a shed or garage to winter it. Water it but not like in Summer, just don't let it dry out. If it takes off good the following Spring and Summer it will Winter completely outdoors from that point on...

NEBG has one day workshops besides the school. You don't need to do the 2 year school to get started.

I looked at a map of Mass and used Google (the internet is amazing isnt it?). The futher away from Bellingham is the NW corner of the state, Williamstown. It's 2.5 hours away. Easily doable if you get up early on a Saturday.

There is also PFM bonsai in West Charlton, NY if youre on the western side of the state and that is closer.

In any case, it is now clear you are only "ambitious" for the cheap and easy.

Been there done that then I learned it won't work if you want to get anywhere in this hobby.

I'm done wasting my time trying to help you until you're willing to put some effort in yourself.

Good luck

Paradox give it a break I'm retired on social security and they haven't given us a cost of living increase in like 5 years. The closest one to me is in Littleton, Ma. or Framingham, Ma.

Ok. Can you spare $5?

Boon is now offering his DVD's on a streaming service. You can buy the traditional DVD's and have them shipped, or you can buy it and have it streamed to your computer whenever you want to watch it, or you can rent it for $5.

I highly recommend you rent his Bonsai 101 for $5. It's 99 minutes of instruction. And an introduction to bonsai. If you like his style, you may consider his other videos.

Go to www.bonsaiboon.com.

I needed a good laugh this morning, and this off-the-rails thread is just the ticket, so thank you my fellow nuts, new and old! Oh, also, this:

EDIT: ps, put that damned juniper outside and stop trying to do bonsai at it until you understand why people react to it the way they have here.
