And almost nothing bad happened.

I had been looking at his dead cottonwood all summer. Thinking of offering a some pitching to help Mitigate the cost of removal, worried if it did fall it would ruin, his, mine, or both of our houses. And less important but still Important, crush my trees.

Well it fell and it damaged almost nothing. The power surged, went out and came back on in a few seconds. The wall wasn’t damaged and mostly caught the trees branches. Several very large logs fell around some big trees if mine with zero damage.

Feeling very lucky nothing bad happened.

Lucky you. That tree is massive; it could have caused a lot more damage. Personally, would curse as a sailor at my neighbour being it were my situation.

To be fair to my neighbor. This tree was alive all last year and to start the spring. He had an arborist out and everything who said it would be ok. But then again, cottonwoods are notoriously soft and weak trees.

Just look at this “root system” almost non existent. Whatever growth it pushed must’ve been reserves.
