If anyone has any tips for Douglas Firs, I would love to hear them. Larry had mentioned that they tend to grow on the north side of the mountains, so they like it a bit cooler and out of hot direct sun. I'd be very interested to know if anyone has had any success with repotting, backbudding, etc.

Douglas Fir

Hi,

I've got a mame Douglas fir. It had been growing from a seed in an old flower pot in my parents basement. Seemed to be doing just fine in dry, crappy soil.

I've since replanted, and it's doing well. Very hearty. I'm not sure about the sun/shade part. I'm in the pacific northwest (Vancouver Island) so we don't get terribly hot weather. Having said that, I have been keeping it in dappled sunlight, next to a fence. So perhaps it's wise to keep yours in a semi-protected area.

Post a pic - would love to see it.
