When my wife says something is "cute" it really means she doesn't like it. She calls me cute all the time In the case of your tree, it's quite charming.

My Wife calls all seedlings cute. I am just growing plants this past year so she mainly just ever says "What is that? I like it" or "What the hell is that?"

My wife calls all my shohin "cute" much to my dislike. She thinks my bigger trees are beautiful but never "cute". So... I guess size does matter!

That's the word I'd use for your tree. A classy, professional and cool word, I'd aspire to be called that any day.
Unfortunately I can't join in with everyone else, saying "what my wife calls my bonsai", as I've no wife.. no girl friend... not dating....
... I'm gonna go cry in the corner for a bit, don't mind me.

Totally how my fiancé is too, a few years ago I was going to chop one of my first trees I bought, a Chinese privet. She freaked out and took it over but has seen since then that chopping is a good thing lolIt's funny, my wife says there so lush and beautiful. Then I work on them, and she asked why I made it so ugly and cut off so much.
She also finds my mame to be "adorable", which I may just have to agree with.
