Here's another one I made and sold years ago. Damascus steel with copper and whalebone handle:

LMAO! I'm the one insulting everybody? Do a little forum history right here and now just in this thread alone! All I did was post a few pics of my knives because I was invited to do so by another member and this is what my wordless pics got in response? BTW, I don't give two craps about your size lol, doesn't mean anything to me what so ever! Plain and simple, this forum and crowd just aren't a good match for me! Came here for Bonsai stuff and mostly found this crap lol. Peace out to the cool members here but I won't be back................ Laterz!
I love these dramatic exits! Isn't this the second one in the last week or two?

This is a pocket knife thread. Is there a reason we always get off topic? I hope everyone realizes, there are lots of peaceful moments in this world and in our life. But peace itself is made up! Humans are animals and always will be, the only reason we're"civilized" is because of our thumbs. Theres plenty of animals out there just as smart as me, and you. So now, can we please keep looking at knives?

Thanks
Aaron

because of our thumbs.

No More Insults!;)

I miss him

Sorry...I hope you don't go spend too much time on InstaChocolateandMarshmallows!

There were 2 pocket knives left in this house when we moved in...I think I got one around.

Lil nut story behind it too!

When I use my thumbs my wife tells me I'm not civilized.

Another one from Dan Harrison out of Ben Wheeler, Texas (the town was named for a legendary mail carrier in the area a century ago). Blade is 4 1/2" D-2 tool steel, 58-59 Rockwell. Handle is 4 1/2" made from stabilized oak. Dan said he got the oak blocks from a guy in the U.K. who said it was made from timbers reclaimed from a 500 year old abbey that was torn down a few years ago. Dan said "at least that's the story...;-)"harrisonknife.jpg

That's not a phrase You hear every day!
Beautiful knife - not sure how pocketable it is though ;)
Got it wrong. Ben Wheeler was the first settler. Town was officially named that when they put a post office at the intersection in the settlement.

Dan Harrison is pretty legendary himself. Made and designed knives for K-Bar, Kershaw and Browning. He's also a character, "local color" with international clientele.

I held the wooly mammoth tooth knife in the video. Saw the raw stock tooth it's made from last summer. Dan was wondering back then how in the hell he was going to make into a handle, since it was roughly three times the size it is now. Funny how some of this raw material stuff is just like cutting down raw stock for bonsai...

The mammoth knife is roughly $9 grand or so (far faaaar out of my price range)...Can't use it for much, but its Purdy...

"Laguiole" is a village in France.

It's one of the two most popular pocket knives here (the other one is "Opinel", but I can't find mine at the moment). the original one were actually copied on the design of Spanish "navajas" but rapidly became the companion of those who worked in fields in "Massif Central".

At first, the handle was made of cow horn (I have one somewhere), but now they make some with for instance rose wood like this one.

(NB: "companion" comes from the latin "cum" + ""panum", the one with whom you share your bread. It gave the word "copain", a friend, a pal, a mate, ...)

The bee is the mark of the cutlers who work there. Since they had never thought of applying for a patent, there are many cheap counterfeits made in China. Since then, only "Laguiole véritable" are the real ones.

My uncle carries one of these. It's also close to lunchtime for me, and your post is making me hungry.

holy crap, I just signed up to this forum after lurking for a while and I am so sad I missed the hilarious drama one page back.

Is there more hilarious drama I can read through? I love it :P

also this is definitely my new favorite copy-pasta

""Gun Fags"? You mean the men and women who have died fighting for the very freedom that you are using now to make your ignorant statement? Or, do you mean "gun fags" referring to the men and women who are actively serving now? Yea, try not to offend homosexuals but instead insult honorable soldiers! Pretty pathetic don't you think! Survival skills lmao! Who are you talking too? I can make fire out of water and a fishing pole out of a leg bone lol. I'll redefine the very word "survival" for you:) Have a good weekend! BTW, good luck trying to hide your body heat signature from inferred technology while trying to catch your Trout dinner. After the U N get's the city populations in check they will quickly spread out into the rural areas looking for "fisherman" lol. No peach without war! Better have a competent militia watching your back while you're trying to peacefully fish:)"

Also, cool knives everyone! I wish had a a Damascus steel knife for cooking purposes :(

Hidden in plain sight in the title. Smoke is sneaky that way.
Really? When I look at the title it says "Pocket Knives" and not "semi antique collectible pocket knife thread. You know the kind you put in a Ryker mount and hang on the wall with little labels with dates and manufacturer." Regardless, it quickly unraveled.

This is true.
