Rainbow Eucalyptus for bonsai?

There is lady that sales them also...and I hear hers are the best...She also has instructions on her blog how to grow them...they need to be very fresh.
I was going to look for the link but you have them already.

One of my two is doing well. It's now about 15 inches tall and starting to get woody at the base. The other failed. I bought another bazillion seeds and will be growing them in the spring.

I bought my Eucalyptus deglupta seeds from smartseedstore.com. I have 20 or so growing right now...a very high germanation rate and the sprouted in a few days!

I saw one of these on eBay last year and after seeing photos, I had to have one. Living in PA without a greenhouse though, I had to wait. I can barely keep a pothos alive inside, dang spider mites.

For those in FL and the Gulf Coast, I would get one, make sure it is healthy and let it experience a night in the upper 30s to around 40F. If that kills it outright, it must be ultratropical, like breadfruit and Red Sealing Wax Palm (Cyrtostachys renda), for example.

Deglupta is one of the easiest trees I have.
Mine isn't ready for showing though, and neither am I.

It spends 6 months a year in the bathroom at 15-20 degrees C in low light conditions. 6 months outdoors in the full sun in central europe. It seems to do just fine.
Just a word of advice for people wanting to get them: pick a slower draining soil or else you'll have to water them 6 times a day.
I used 80% akadama in the last repotting of my 2 year old deglupta and it's just a disaster when it comes to watering.

I'll see if it gets anywhere worth showing this year. But since i've been refining it from the seedling stage (and 6 months of suboptimal conditions) that wont be anytime soon, I guess.

As for the bark; I havent seen the bright colors like in the google pictures, not even in adult trees in the wild.

I bought 2 of these fron a seller on Etsy a couple months ago. I think they were about $40 + with shipping and came well packaged planted in one gallon pots. They are about 2 feet tall and have beautiful new leaves with a rosy flush. They will be in a greenhouse this winter.

So Im a little late to the party but I want to see one also. My Bonsai adventure is just beginning and I already have a list of trees I want to play with besides this one. Anyone also have a Blue Jacaranda bonsai?
