It's not looking like much as I have barely trimmed it and wired to open up the branches a lot more. I wanted to go ahead and let this spirea flower while I think about what I want to do with it. I could go plant it into the ground for a couple of years to thicken up the branches or I could work on cutting it back as much as I dare and try to aim for a Mame. I don't know how well it will respond to a hard cutting back as I haven't worked with spirea before. The tiny white flowers seem well suited to a smaller plant but it could definitely use thicker trunk structure.

The last shot is a side view from when I wired it earlier this month - it shows the structure better. Now the ratty old bug eaten leaves are really starting to be replaced with new foliage.

Or Spiraea if you prefer - which I suppose is the more correct spelling.
