The Summer Bonsai Academy is taking shape. Mesa Public Schools beefing up their summer school programs with Art, PE, Music, and a Bonsai Academy at Johnson Elementary School in Mesa, AZ. 3 week program. School starts tomorrow.
Bringing in the trees today.

Now you have to remember it is a workshop not a show. I have let my bonsai go...weeds and all, so the kids have something to work on :) Hopefully, by the end, they will be in better shape.

I couldn’t find any listing for the Academy, must of looked in the wrong place. I’ve a couple g-kids in Scottsdale and know at least one would love to attend if you all are offering the Academy again next year.

Our school is Johnson Elementary in Mesa. I teach there and I named my class The Summer Bonsai Academy. Sorry, only open to Mesa kids. There are houses for sale in the neighborhood. ;)
 
I've had plenty of teachers in my time, some few of them memorable in ways that still lift my heart -- and I do believe that you're of that sort -- someone kids will remember many years later, and smile...❤️
 
This is so awesome! Gets them away from a screen and doing something creative that could get them started in a life long hobby. Imagine the trees some of us could have if we started in the 4th or 5th grade!

Nevermind the kids! Heck even I am jelly at what looks like a lot of fun. Do they get to glaze their own pots? So awesome!

They gonna looooove it!!!

Kids doing great! I have to tell you though those kindergarten kids gave me a run for my money. :) :) :)
 
Interesting development today. The principal told me after school today that they think the bonsai have been a great success on campus. He said he would like to create a permanent bonsai pavilion on campus and wondered if I would like to be in on the design.
