My neighbor has offered two texas sage shrubs to me. They are 5 to 8 inches on diameter at the base and are over 10 years old.

Have any of you nuts out there had advice collecting them? When is the best time to dig? What about soil and after care here in west central Florida?

Thanks!

Im no expert but I think you should wait til spring, given the size of the material, you will need to develop a plan, soil type etc. I'd do a bunch of research ahead of time on the species to see when is the best time to collect.

I’ve only bought them at the nursery

Best to collect late winter to early spring if it can be helped. Worst case is to collect late fall to winter while they’re dormant
