Are there any members of the North American or International Maple Society here? What's it like?
Is their forum lively?
Is the cultivar database detailed and easy to use?
Is the seed exchange worth the trouble?
I did not. But if you have trouble finding those, and considering its a paid membership, you should be able to get some help via email. Let me know how it goes
This thread prompted me to check out the website. The way the seed exchange bullet in this image reminded me of the perpetual "explosive" conversations involving seedlings of cultivars, lol. @Dan W. I'd be interested to see if you think membership has value after you look around.
No, and actually the freely accessible database that has the various species is much higher quality, though I cant find it anymore. The members only cultivar database is not great.
Mixed bag, those willing to organize and talk to others a bit can get some value out of it I reckon. Used to be better 5 or 6 years ago before the restrictions
The layout is questionable and there isnt much to do.
I think the point of it is to get together for events a couple times a year. Maybe the newsletter is good, I dont know.
