I'm an avid bass angler. Those expensive graphite rods we use can only take so many hook sets until they break. I have 3 different size pieces that are from snapped rods that I use in the place of chopsticks to work soil into pots and roots.

Okay. I'll play. But I don't know if this will count since it is an assemblage rather than a fabrication.
Oh well here is my "push me-pull you" branch/trunk jack:

Lets me adjust it a couple of turns at a time and unevenly if need be.

That's a really sweet assembly. I was thinking doing one for myself. I'll steal your design right away! :)

Hmmm, I've had this rod a long time.....it's about even, hook set in shoulder, hook set in tree, hook set on bottom....maybe a little less hook set in a fish....

I started just dangling my line in the cooler.....all of a sudden I turned into Bill Dance....if he was fishing for beer cans!!!!!!:confused:

Thanks for sharing the photos. That's really great craftsmanship! Do you pickle the ss after welding?
They are Tig welded with same type of SS fill rod, so no good reason to pickle.

Just to let you guys know, Stickroot's tools are legit. I have his root hook and rake and they have a great handcrafted feel and look to them. They are quality pieces that I'm proud to own. In fact, I'm thinking of getting some more for gifts.
I am shipping your gouge in just a bit.

@Vin if it's the same as the one Adam made for me, you're going to love it!
I teased Kathy that I was going to steal hers because I liked it so much. Hers was made by a toolmaker in Japan who is deceased or at least no longer making tools.
Adam was able to replicate it expertly. Nice and sharp, good balance and feel in the hand. Can't wait till carving season!

Thanks. The twist looks cool, but I like the dolphin-smooth version.
I think you hit the nail on the head with the gouge, and I'm really eager to use it.

OOOHHHH......I need one for my old lady!! Looks cheaper than a dishwasher......would these mount on a kitchen sink full of dishes? Looks more comfortable than the one I have to don after dinner.....everyday.....

Little TMI man.
Especially with all those knots about it as well.
Just TMI
