We're due to get an ice/ snow event in a week with temps not getting above freezing for a few days afterward, so I'm glad things are late this year. It does mean lots of trees are going to need re-potting at the same time, though.

Well, fellow Bonsai Nuts, we had a beautiful day yesterday with moderate temperatures forecasted for the next 10 days. This was great for the humans, but our Trident had something of a rude awakening. It was rooted pretty deeply, so it took a lot of effort, but we got him out and made some decisions. There was some concern about sap bleeding, but it really didn't amount to much, so I think it's going to be happy once it's over the shock. As you'll see, I couldn't decide which leader to go with, so I left 2 on there when I replanted. I also rotated the tree counterclockwise to hide the scar from removal of the right branch and tilted the tree to the right. I actually like how it's planted now, so next year I may reduce some of the lower roots as well. Anyone have thoughts as to which leader to go with for the trunkline? I was also thinking the one on the left could be a branch, as the one on the right is naturally growing upward without wiring (and is already thicker). There will definitely be some scar repair to deal with, but for now, I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows this season. I welcome everyone's comments and suggestions (unless the comments say I did something wrong and don't give a solution as to how to fix it -- too late to look back!).
