I'm heading up the coast to "Mendocino Coast Bonsai" this Thursday in search of a collected pygmy cypress for a Ryan Neil workshop in July. I'll be getting some more shohin redwoods as well, to fund the new project. Any requests? I can take some more pictures, or get a tree or two for resale.

Check out the post Ryan did on the cypress he bought from the Shimons; http://www.bonsaimirai.com/gallery/pygmy-cypress-1/

Take pictures of their nursery. I've always been interested in seeing their place, but could never get by there when I was travelling.

Say Hi to both Zack and Bob from Gene Deci. Great folks and great trees - I'm glad I had the chance to visit about a month ago.

I did! But shamefully I completely forgot my camera, sorry guys! I have a few pictures of the nursery from a past visit, so I'll post those. Maybe Bob can post some pictures of the newly collected junipers if he has time, they are quite spectacular. There are roughly 20 sierra junipers, with a few pre-claimed ones. They won't be able to be sold until they recover of course, but it is looking very promising.

There are hundreds of trees for sale, some of my favorites being in the shohin and chuhin size. The coastline is absolutely breathtaking too. I spent the night at a coastal state park in my tent listening to the waves and the coyotes howling.

collected junipers

I collected around 40 sierra junipers last fall and they just came out of the green house. I'll try and post some pictures this weekend.

This looks like Van Damme State Park. We were up there a few weeks ago. Awesome place. There's also a pygmy forest with the pygmy cypresses you were talking about near there.

This actually looks like Navarro beach, Mendo is one of my favorite places to visit. Albion Ridge nursery is a good place to get bonsai as well. Greg Ross is a pretty nice guy and will take the time if he is not busy with nursery business to give you a tour of his private garden.

Here is a sampling of the 40 trees that I collected. The water bottle is about 2.5" across, and the first tree has a base of 20". Most are medium to sorta large, but the last picture shows some of the smaller ones that I also collected.

Hi Art - I sent you a PM with the information that you requested but couldn't figure out how to attach the pictures. I've attached them to this posting.
