Hopefully it dies before a raptor tries to eat it and is poisoned. Granted, if you had as many raptors (Barred Owls and Red Shoulder Hawks) as I do, you wouldn't have a rat problem (for long).

I was careful. Haven’t any raptor in my neighborhood in 3 years.

I was told by a college educated ornithologist that if birds eat rat bait etc. , it doesn't hurt them . I don't know of course but I tend to believe people that have a background in that science .
