Nope, 3ft is just fine and the 20 years they were in 30in deep water before this redo proves that. You only need 18in around here for winter protection.

Nothing like proven experience. I had a winter kill in my 3 ft deep pond in Ohio. That was why I suggest deeper pond.

I dug through the trees at the local supermarket, they have them marked down to $4 now. There’s a few red oaks, one more Chinese elm and quite a few tridents labeled red maple. I may grab a few tomorrow

I have never seen a sale like that local here... I would definitely get in trouble at home when I arrive with a dozen trees hanging out the back of the GTI.

Doing some clean up with the trees today and was taken aback at how well this particular Colorado blue spruce has recovered. Ryan had styled and repotted this tree exactly 2 months ago(21st of March) and it has rebounded exceptionally well. It was on biogold and weekly kelp/fish emulsion early last year but switched to Apical protocol at the end of Spring 2023.

I'm cleared to lift more than 15lbs today!

Did some cleanup on this cotoneaster.

I'm tempted to just remove the bar branches and grow something new for first branches. I'm planning on letting this get taller that's why it's in such a large training pot. Need to redo all the top dressing the birds stole too.

Sprayed the trees and vegetable garden with malathion because the aphids and mealybugs have been really bad the last year or two...
With a super janky broken sprayer.

The duct tape helped, but this will not suffice.
Guess what thread I'll be posting in soon.
