Figure this is as good a spot as any for my first post. Getting into bonsai fairly recently as we've moved into a house with a bunch of maple, birch, azalea and other fun plants that I can mess around with. We're in south eastern Australia and with spring just starting to spring there are some maple seedlings popping up. Pulled up half a dozen and potted them so the dogs don't just run them over, and gave one a seaside themed home for a bit of fun.

Yesterday I wired and potted my new Itiogawa cutting. Really excited to have this one and looking forward to developing it. Yes, I'm happy to develop it in pots as I'm not after a huge trunk :)

I wrapped some mapple seedlings together and then some self amalgamating tape around them.
Red leaves are just to show where the soil surfase is. The moss is covering part of the lower trunk and some exposed roots.
I hope they all eventually fuse together to form something intresting.

Could be a variegated mutation. Can you dig it up and see if it keeps the trait?
They do come in variegated varieties.
Here's mine, bought it for landscape. It's called Cookies and cream and has double light pink flowers.

Having thought about it for a while, I think I will dig it up. The picture might make it look larger than it is, it's tiny.. but it's still growing and has not developed any pigmentation in those leaves so far. 👍

Maybe I can help it along.

Attempted my first pruning/styling on a cheap dwarf alberta spruce I picked up at Home Depot.

Cut back my fukien tea third time this summer.
Wow, what are you feeding it? Mine is doing really well, but it's had no where near that amount of growth. Had a case of mealy bugs last year so it spent this year regaining all of it's leaves and is flowering like mad now... but it hasn't put out much new growth.

Actually, I should post a couple pictures because I'd like to try my hand at styling it but have no idea where to start. lol

Don't have many pictures to share so I'm re-sharing this one of the little Amur Honeysuckle root ball I collected. 🤷‍♂️😜

I don't exactly know while it's doing well. It is in an oversized pot. Last summer it just grew a leader from the top part and got to be 5 feet tall. This year I am just cutting it back to keep it small.
It has very weird shape and I gave up on it shapewise. It's getting Osmocote and water...

Bought a Mugo Pine in the "get this off our lot" sale at the nursery. :)

It has a huge hole, and some die-back in the lower branches, but the trunk looks as though it might have promise. Sunk it in the wife's veggie patch for now. Will pull it out in the Spring and see what to do with it.
