Found a dirt bike wheel, I am guessing, and, remembering plow disk pots from this forum, got attracted by the bent gear...
Could not get bolts to budge and had to cut the heads off.
I think it's nice. Good drainage for sure ;)
Maybe I'll plant some sedums it it next spring.

I'm new enough to the hobby that I think this to be totally appropriate and more artistic in nature...

*Old picture of an Amur Honeysuckle I asked about digging up a while ago. Sorry, no new photos to share.

Flipped it over again 🤷‍♀️

Club olive dig today 🙂 lots of fun and we went via a big boug on the way and got some cuttings from that too. Mostly small ones this year and a couple of interesting branch cuttings.

Technically did this yesterday, but will hope it still meets standards for the thread. :p Initial prune/style of the JBP I got at auction at the ABS shindig in Rochester a few weeks ago.

Started out looking like an understudy for The Lorax (and for some reason turned sideways - I tried rotating the image on my phone and re-uploading and it just turned it sideways the other way, the heck?):

One massive haircut (and still mysteriously rotated) later:

This was also an exercise in trying to keep my mind busy while this little guy is in hospital and awaiting radiologist and surgery consults for what may or may not be a reparable urinary issue. He was a stray I took in on Friday and I figured if I gave him a bit of a joke name I wouldn't get attached. That didn't work, but he's still officially Piss Kitten in the medical records at not only my clinic but the referral hospital that currently has him:

Hopefully should know more Monday about where he goes from here. Poor kid.

Picked field maple seeds at HD I frequent for years... This year I noticed they have field mapels planted at the end of each parking divider...

Planted 2 apricot seeds. Bought and ate apricots in June and had naked kernels in the fridge.

Worked with Scott Elser yesterday and gave this newly acquired kishu its first rough styling. Obviously needs some deadwood carving/refining, but I'm so incredibly pumped to have my first high quality tree. Forgive the blurry picture of the "before". Felt like we took off a lot of green, but I have to trust that the pro knows what he's doing!

(also it appears that any uploaded photo automatically rotates for the longest dimension to be horizontal, so best crop your photos landscape style if you want them to be right-side-up)

Did some scouting today, also I dont have permission to collect in this area. Sorry for the bad photos, it was a lot of rain so I only took a few photos.

Many of these you can almost just lift of the ground, and there are so many of them. They also, probably because of the fine roots does not care if its spring or fall when collecting. That said I have not yet taken the best trees I have seen, but tried with lesser material to learn taking care of them first.

You might have to go higher than three feet. Deer here in Oklahoma can easily leap over a five foot tall barbed wire fence. The buried chicken wire will deter those rabbits as well as ferrets, skunks, Etc.

Photo…seeds that arrived today…Will be starting some for bonsai, some for landscaping and some for fun.
