This Buxus was a free tree, taken with permission from the neighbour's yard a year ago when they knocked down their house. Over the past year I've been gradually been reducing the roots and still ongoing (thus still in training pot). This is first time bare rooting, was previously in solid dirt.

Did some scouting for spring collection. Found a couple of interesting Birch trees growing out of the top of the unturned rootball of 120ft hemlock that came down in my yard a few years ago. Trying to decide if I pull them this spring or let the go a couple more years where they are.

Worked on one of my shore pines over the past two days. Developmental wiring for branch and pad placement. Preparing for compaction and back budding. Left lots of needles and apical shoots for the time being will reduce later in the winter. By then it will have a chance to recover from the work over the past few days. Will rest in the greenhouse till then.

Did some watering and just sat with my sticks in pots pondering what to do with them, also did some searching online for dawn redwoods after seeing this beautiful example at the Royal Botanical Garden.definitely need one of these in my collection of sticks
