I airlayered a cornelian cherry (European dogwood) tree in my yard. (I removed the fruits on the airlayered branch).

I also took a few more Zelkova cuttings for my forest project, planted them into peat and petlite mix, covered with transperent bags.

Finally, I planted this dwarf pomegranate to the ground without disturbing the roots and putting a slab under it. It was in a shallow pot before, restricting it's development. I am letting the flowers bud, but I will remove the fruits as soon as they develop. The idea is to grow at least 5 years or more with sacrifice branches to create a double trunk style.

Rough spring this year and this tree got away from me and got pretty wild and hairy. I finally did a big cut back today to start to get it back under control. I cut back most long extensions and some branches that were just too big. It also had some knobby ends i wanted to fix and cut back to smaller branches. It still needs more rehab but this is as much as I wanted to do for now.

Will see how it responds but this at least opens it up and allows more light inside. There are lots of little buds ready to go. Will need a repot next spring for sure.

Potted up a couple of junipers this morning! The first is a gift-shop rescue - I'm a sucker for a poor little gift-shop juniper, and this one was wedged in mud (and oddly rigid given how young it appears to be - wiring this fall may be interesting). The pot isn't ideal but I just didn't want to leave it in the muck it was inhabiting.

The second is a buffalo juniper I started styling as part of a workshop in January and still needs a fair bit of work, but I just couldn't wait to see it in this pot.

Yesterday, I took 24 cuttings from the Japanese Maple in my yard. I'm determined to have success this year.

And then I pruned and put a little wire on this small winged elm. It should be clip and grow from here.

A very subtle trim on this Ikea "bonsai" that my mother offered me on her last visit 2y ago.
Last year I grafted the nicer part of the trunk and I've been gradually reducing the size since then.
She's coming in 2 days, I think she won't recognize it.

I realized I'm probably not cut out for the bonsai lifestyle. I love it. But I need to love it from afar. Also I pruned this euonymus that I yoinked from under a cedar on my property. It seems pretty chuffed to live in a terra cotta prison on my porch. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but I kinda like it. Even though it criss-crosses itself at the base.

When you have patience you have control of everything Bonsai. :)

Pic tax. Looking at some branch chops I wanted to make last year. Will be done soon.

Are yours Bing cherries? Mine are pie sour cherries. Honestly it's a care free tree for me. All I need is to get them before the birds.
The rest of my fruit trees are just a bitter disappointment to me. My fault as I don't spray them... Peaches set tons of fruit. Look beautiful while green and then all rot when starting to ripen.

Not Bing, mine are low-chill varieties since I live in California. I have a Minnie Royal and a Royal Crimson, super sweet, firm, and delicious, but I just can't get them to produce more than a handful. They always have a good amount of blooms, and when they start to turn into cherries, the majority of them start to get yellow and weak-looking, and they fall off, and only a few survive.

As far as all my other fruit trees, Peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, pluots, pluerrys, same here, very disappointing results, could be because all I do to them is prune them when they are dormant and let them grow, I don't have a spray schedule or regimen, seems all very confusing to me with so many products out there, wish there was an easy solution.

Let me know if you have one.
