Picture tax, I demo’d for a local club the other night. It’s an Itoigawa I grew from a cutting for the last 6 years. I was pretty happy with it for only having an hour and a half.

Lol! Well, the plaster under the wrap is pretty firm, so hopefully no bending. All the broken bones are just floating in place right now. They wanted the swelling to go down before they started reconnecting everything. Wednesday they put in all the plates, pins and screws.

Getting to have a new experience now that I’m stuck in Alexandria for a couple of months. I grew up in Texas and lived in Florida most of my life. I’ve never been in the mid or northern states when fall arrives and see how quickly some trees start turning up here. This tree was all green leaves last week and now half of them are yellow. I’ve never seen this at the start of fall.

Pretty sure swamp white oak can be pruned…an arborist would thin out some of those vertical trunks and trim the broom top.One of the best things the midwest has to offer are the trees in spring and fall.

The board has some arborists come out every now and then to thin it out a little but I think they might actually laugh if I told them I wanted more sunlight for my plants.
Oh well, I do my best. And I love watching the squirrels fight over acorns, lol.

These oaks needed to go, so I rescued them as yamadori and replanted them at home. The big one may be short on feeder roots, but better to give it a chance than throw it away.

Ordered some Bonsai books I didn’t have in my library…love Biblio.com. Already have several books by Peter Chan.
And I ordered packets of tree seeds to stratify for spring. I’ve had some of these when in the 70s before life got busy.

Found these at my local bookstore. They charged $4 for them. I also had credits for selling them books. But not bad. The pottery books have snippets of cool ideas and recipes. Top left was printed in the 70’s. The Japanese garden book has cool pics and info. The bonsai book is good and basic. I’ve heard good things about it. Haven’t looked much through it yet.
