Local nursery cannot i.d. this tree that I bought from their nursery about 4 or 5 yrs ago. I just transplanted it to this pot from it’s original “baby planter”. I am also growing Dawn Redwood bonsai from seed (planted last week) and am sowing 4 other types of bonsai tonight or tomorrow. Will be posting many questions from here, but for now, I would love to solve the mystery of my unknown bonsai tree.
All ideas welcome!

Welcome to the web site!

It looks to me like a variegated schefflera (aka umbrella plant).

Help us to understand more by putting your location in your profile. The fact that you are growing dawn redwood from seed is intriguing!

Yes! the leaves look just like that! Though mine has been left untouched by pruning shears and is much more spread out. I must do some reading now! Thank you!

If a nursery can't even identify a plant they sold you, you might want to consider going to a different one that actually knows about plants and not just sell them.
