What Pines Do Well In Central Florida?

While I love maple trees and ficus, I am curious if any pines do well in Florida other than the two native ones?

I grow JBP here in the Ocala Forest. This is one of my 8 month old cuttings. All my JBP’s do great here.

Yes, I have most of the native pines - Sand pine, densa slash pine, pond pine, and just got some spruce pines to play with. Loblolly is another native that I don't have but is proven as good stock for bonsai.
Also have JBP of course. That's pretty much the whole list. Longleaf pine bonsai might be a little harder to do given the needle length is so long.

Which ones, Potty? I'm not intimately familiar with native FL pines, but the ones I am aware of have extremely long needles. The only native pines to the SE that are worth a try are Virginia and Pitch pines and neither will grow in FL.

Sand pine, spruce pine, densa slash pine, loblolly pine, and shortleaf pine are the natives for bonsai. Longleaf pine is the only unsuitable one really.

SE not just FL. Not being resident myself cannot answer that. Do not insult tribal names!

Also.. it's not insulting for pale faces to use derivatives of THEIR own words for tribes/nations/families.

Collected Sand pine"Pinus clausa"

I Collected this sand pine today before a land clearing here in south Florida. I potted it in the sand it was growing in for now. It stands about 2 ft tall. Should I keep it in the shade for about a month?

Sand pines are pretty decent looking in my opinion.
