Just received a 'Iwai Nishiki' from Wilson Brothers and was wondering when is the best time to try and take cuttings for rooting?
The plant is very gangly and has several 6-7 inch shoots with very long internodes that will have to go.
Is this a good time?

Yes, this is a good time. Flowering quince and Chinese quince both root easily.

For me anytime I trim my quince tree and stick cuttings into soil they root with almost 100% success. Very easy to root
