Welcome to B-Nut! :)

Doesn't look like yaupon to me. Sorry, no idea what it is.

Klosi,

It appears to be a holly. Nathan may be correct, it is hard to tell. I am thinking either a Heller or Compacta Holly, possibly a Convexa Holly.

Regards,
Martin

I love these little quessing games. Any chance on a Buxus, maybe a Morris Midgit? A look at the bark in close to see the texture would help clarify. I think holly have a smoother bark and the boxwood is rough as a cob.

The shape and serrated edge of the mature leaves suggests holly, not boxwood.

Your eyes are better than mine, I can't see serrations in these pics. I'm not pushing the issue, but I'd still like to see the trunk and branches. May help define which holly this is, too.

My old eyes are not so great, but I must say I cannot see any serrations on the leaves, either. A close-up of the leaves, as well as of the trunk and branches would help.

How's this?

Hmmm. I thank you everybody that gave a suggestion of what this could be.

I also got some replys on other forum that this could be ilex crenata. But this is not the 100%.
the branches are pretty hard and not flexible.

Thanks everybody!

Leaves are too pointy to be yaupon for me. I have lots of yaupon...and this is close but not quite right. I think it is the new growth...mine always have a tinge of red (somewhere...end of leaves, the stalks, etc.)...this is all green.

It is NOT boxwood. Boxwood have opposite leaves. These are alternate. Probably the Japanese holly - Ilex crenata.
