You just convince me to go get a forest. Thanks a lot

Haha! Yeah. 😆

And like B. Uneasy said, - I’m guessing they will have these half off soon! Look ordinary on their own, but may be very nice together!

Hell, if you can get like 5 or 6 for 25-30$ Total,
I would think together they could make a very nice forest for cheap!! The tough part for me was finding any size variations on these as they are all fairly similar

I paid full price for mine. I Now have 5, so spent around 50$.

I would love to see what you pick up!
Happy hunting. 👍

Any reason you repotted the procumbens? It does not seem like the best time of year. However I will say it is healthier than most home depot mallsai I have seen. Hopefully it makes it.

You know, I probably could have /should have waited. This one actually did not have the glued rocks on top. More gravel like top dressing. So that was good.

However, I guess my experience with this type of novelty bonsai is that the soils used are not great. Sometimes Gawd awful. This soil actually seemed ok. Very loamy and lots of bark used. Still thought it was Retaining water longer than I like.

So I did replace the soil and comb out roots.
Always trying to see what I can get away with.

I received one much like this last year as a mail order Christmas gift. I believe my Mom got it on Amazon from 9-greenBox (wince!).
Anyways it came completely dumped out in the box. Completely ignorant to bonsai, I just Arranged the pieces back in the pot and pushed the soil back in, and the pebbles on top. The soil looked like potting mix, and the plant like cuttings shoved in a plastic bonsai pot.
furthermore, I re-potted it again that winter (into a pot I liked better).
To make thing worse, it stayed inside all winter. 🙄
This plant is still alive and healthy-as far as I know. Maybe it will kick off this spring-but I don’t think so. I’ll try to find a current pic.

In other words, Just an over eager newb with a insatiable appetite for destruction.

I went to the big box store yesterday in my area. Not much left, but they wanted $17 for each one in little gallon pots. Not sure I can afford a forest at that price.

Dang! That’s too much for sure.
I’ve found Lowe’s to be the best.
In spring they also offer up 8.98$ plants on special @ 3 for 10$ In my neck of the woods. Got some birds nest and dwarf albertas there.
Good luck.

Yeah. Why not?
I can’t think of something to do more enjoyable for five dollars. Can Kick back and make something out of a mass produced Christmas novelty!
Happy holidays.

this thing had at least 8 oz of water at the bottom of pot. Drenched soil.
I think the saving grace is the layer of moss at the bottom of the pot. -no drain holes.

Perfect. Nice that old bits of wood can make the training stage look a bit more stylish too.
