There is no wrong time to repot an indoor tropical. (Standard disclaimer: I'm relatively new, so pay little attention to my opinion.)Unfortunately the cutting didnt make it, pic was takened earlier 2017. Would you replace the soil with akadama even though its not the right time to repot?

I have an akadama mix that i used on my other bonsais, i should be ok to replace the soil with better drainage mix during this month right?
Im in california, los angelesWhere are you located?
I ask because while it may be ok to change the soil now....
You gotta be more vigilant about things that can happen now.....like cold weather keeping your heat on longer and drying it out....etc....
Just a change from organic to inorganic can have a "Damn I gotta water this much" impact....which sucks inside...
Lotta moving to the sink and wetting stuff ought'nt get wet!
