image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Hey there community! Ive been into bonsai for 1.5 yrs now and this was my first shohin attempt on a willow fig. My sensei couldnt watch shen i cut his beauty but when i went back to see him in a few month, it was a happu specimen

Ill gladly take advice :)

I tried to root the chop but had no luck. Im going to try to air layer a trident maple next

I’ve found these cuttings root well in a jar of water with a healthy amount of spagnum moss. Leave as much wood below the waterline as possible for anchorage but carve off the bark up to your future neberi. It’s not too late if the picture was taken yesterday. Some even suggest leaving the cutting out for a day to dry.

Unfortunately the cutting didnt make it, pic was takened earlier 2017. Would you replace the soil with akadama even though its not the right time to repot?

There is no wrong time to repot an indoor tropical. (Standard disclaimer: I'm relatively new, so pay little attention to my opinion.)

I appreciate the input, thank you

I cant wait to find the right pot for it!

Nice job. Just what it needed. Now it needs better soil.

I have an akadama mix that i used on my other bonsais, i should be ok to replace the soil with better drainage mix during this month right?

Where are you located?

I ask because while it may be ok to change the soil now....

You gotta be more vigilant about things that can happen now.....like cold weather keeping your heat on longer and drying it out....etc....

Just a change from organic to inorganic can have a "Damn I gotta water this much" impact....which sucks inside...

Lotta moving to the sink and wetting stuff ought'nt get wet!
