Wulfskaar's Shishigashira Maple (Lion's Head)

The mother tree is on plain J. maple rootstock (as far as I know), while the air-layered one is on it's own roots.
Also, the air-layered tree has more akadama in the soil.

Do yours have any noticeable differences?

All of mine are grafted, but I took a large cutting (see the thread on growing cuttings in bottles) from the yardadori maple and it also turned red, even though it's barely got leaves. All four large maples were purchased in Asheville, NC from different vendors.
