Don, you and I are in complete agreement here. The open grown oaks around this area are my basic template for the crown of this tree, which is why I intend to keep the trunks as is. The tree in my opinion would be much lessened in it's appeal and impact if I were to go any other route.

Thanks for the link 14er. edit- Wow what an awesome book, just took a look. Will have to try to find a copy! Thomas Pankenham has a similar book called Remarkable Trees. I don't have that one either, but have seen it.

Here are shots from around to the right side of the tree. You catch a glimpse of the back branch thru there, but only when looking from above the tree. We will see how I can work the growth to accentuate all the trunks as a mass, but other than perhaps the first two, I don't see any of these being "front".

You must pinch yourself to have such amazing material to call your own. In photo #4 you can really see the movement in that middle trunk/branch. 2D photos can't surly do this tree justice...but beggars can't be choosy. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the additional photos. I'd still like to see one where the horizontal-ish branch is nearly pointing at the camera, just to the left of center, so you can really see into the area you opened up by removing that hunk.

There doesn't look like a bad angle on this thing. Nice pick up!

Fantastic, strong and powerful Trident, i like where you're going with it. I also have a powerful Trident in development and likewise the Walter pall tree has been my inspiration. your tree reminds me of an old gnarled Oak tree, it needs no taper, the sub trunks enhance the overall powerful, natural image.
There is a quite largish, but well positioned scar on one of the sides, do you intend to style into a Uro? i think that would look cool

Hi Bobby, I think I've seen a few of your trees that I really like. Maybe make a thread for them here, I'd like that. I started another thread for the progression on this tree, take a look, it has newer pics. I will also be updating that thread again this weekend.
I may or may not do a uro, haven't decided yet, but have thought about it.

Here's a link to that thread.
