Bonsai Enthusiasts in Oklahoma?

I have a call scheduled for tomorrow evening with a guy, hopefully if all goes as planned he will allow us to come out and scout and hunt within the next few weeks.
The plan is normally... tentatively (lol) ... the plan would be to go and scout find a few good candidates for collection, mark them, and then wait until late winter or early spring to go back out and actually collect.
Of course sometimes you just have to find out what a species can handle in your local climate, and may have to collect the same day you find it lol

Is anyone going to the meeting? They are going to talk some more about tropicals so if you have ones you want to show or have questions about bring them in. The meeting is at Will Rodgers Garden Center at NW 36th St & I-44..... 7 to 9 pm.... see you there!

There are two bonsai clubs in the state of Oklahoma. One is in Tulsa and the other is Oklahoma City. The OKC club is called the Central Oklahoma Bonsai Society. Though the club has been around since the 80s it has gone through to several iterations over the years, it is currently a mixed group of nice people who are enthusiastic about bonsai. The club meets once a month at the Will Rogers Garden Center on the second Tuesday of the month, 7 to 9 pm. Their next meeting is February 14th. The way the meeting go is they do club business at first, (announcements and such) Then they have a show and tell, where people bring something in to either show or ask questions about. Afterwards there is usually some type of presentation, which i believe for Feb 2023 will be about bonsai pots. After that they usually have a raffle.
On June 3rd of this year they will host the club's annual bonsai show, all members can enter trees it is not a judged event and is a really good show.
They are a good group of friendly people and visitors are always welcome to show up. Below i'll post all the info, message me if you have any questions
