Can anyone identify this bonsai?

Would be grateful if someone could identify what kind of bonsai I have. When I bought it 8 years ago, the tag very helpfully said Bonsai with no further info! Would be delighted to know what kind it is. Thanks in advance.

Is it a Fukien tea tree? If so impressive to keep alive for 8 years as heard a lot have struggled with those. I know mine hates it indoors in winter

A quick Google tells me fukien tea tend to produce flowers, but my bonsai has never flowered, so maybe not?

yeah mine does small white flowers off and on so probably not then

I'm in the Chinese privet boat as well. Great species for bonsai, can handle heavy root work during the spring, the leaves will reduce to a very tiny size and they grow like weeds.

Privets will flower if you resist the massive urge to constantly prune the buggers because they grow so fast.
