Deodar Cedar - Large Branch Bend, initial wiring

This is a large Deodar Cedar that is now healthy enough for some work. The before pictures show some funky wiring by the previous owner...

Did you undercut the branch to bend it down?

If you did, it doesn't appear you brought it down that much... Maybe if you used some guy wires???

Cedar is very springy, the trunk might be bent using some very heavy duty jacks, but it's likely to revert back to its original shape as soon as the jacks are removed.

Given the difficulties involved, I'm not sure this material is worth the effort. But maybe I'm wrong!

Shame you can't bend that trunk...or can you?

I think there is enough subtle movement for a convincing tree; after some work on the trunk and carving, the trunk will have some interest.

Ah, it seems I responded to the pictures taken after wire was placed, but before the branches were moved.

Now, I have to say that the coils of wire hanging on the white wall on the back are really distracting.

Is it possible to get pictures without them?
