Hopefully this budget plan doesn't pass and put the whole Great Lakes Fisheries at risk. We're talking about places that would be devastated from loss of tourism alone. People come from all over the world to see where I live. One of the best trout rivers in the world is here. The AuSable river.
Then there are the commercial fishermen and charter fishermen. No fish no jobs.
Let alone all of the aquatic vegetation all the way up to animals at the top of the food chain that depend on fish.
The Bald Eagle,symbol comes to mind.
I don't think they're capable of lifting 10 to 10 pound carp out of a lake. Especially since they hug the bottom of the lake.

Yes, let's be optimistic.

So far, the Trump administration is essentially greedy bigots.

I wish you that, even if their main obvious goal is to make their profit great again at the expense of the commoners, perhaps once in office they'll discover another world, a world of solidarty with the have-nots, a world of fraternity.

Maybe the Russians will help: Russians have a great culture, contrary to the money-oriented stupid religious fundamentalists of Trumpettism.

Maybe you're on to a new american culture, pants-pulling? Who knows, a majority of people (edit: of the non-popular vote) seem to like it.

And now a budget plan that will cut money to education and meals on wheels and public broadcasting, some funding to police departments in large cities and cut funding to the Environmental Protection Agency. In order to divert more money to defense in order to buy more bombs.
My grandmother got meals on wheels. Lots of older Americans do. This could take away their only food for the day. He will be killing Americans through starvation. Not to mention the fact that the person delivering those meals are sometimes the only human contact these elderly people get.
Cutting spending on education. This means that hot lunches might be a thing of the past too. Maybe this dumbass thinks poor kids can eat their books. If the schools can afford them. He did say he liked uneducated voters.
Public broadcasting. More education gone. More uneducated Americans.
I think we got enough bombs. But this bastard wants to start a war somewhere. Just to try to make a name for himself and for big business to make more money fueling a war machine.
Blood feeds the war machine.
As it eats it's way across the land.
We're ready to kill all comers.
No remorse is the one command.
Hence the EPA cuts too.
He also said recently he wants to cut emissions restrictions on vehicles being produced. We'll be just like China. Everyone who has to go outside will be wearing masks.

It says he will be loved by millions who can't see him for what he really is.

Vance, with respect, I know you were behind him during the campaign and shortly after the election but he and his compadres in the legislative body are crossing the line.

We the people (especially those who didn't take part in his path to the whitehouse) have every right to proclaim our distaste for his agregious acts of non compassion.

I have asked many of my friends/family that were in the trump boat how they feel about him now and how this will help make America great again, and have yet to come away with a legitimate answer.

Sure, the stock markets are up. That's the go-to answer for trump supporters... It will be really fun to count a chest full of money when the waters are black and the forests are gone.

I didn't vote for him. In fact, I think he's a spoiled, egotistical, call for my mommy when things don't go my way, useless, prick. He IS my president, but I disagree with him down to the core of my being.

If I were a participant in his path to the whitehouse, I would look back with humility and consider the fact that, I may have made a bad choice.

From what I see you and Mike are good friends. I think apart of that is respecting each other's views. Sometimes people are too incessant on their stance without taking into consideration the context or reasoning of who they are opposing. Many times and what I've seen in this thread is complete dismissal of the opposing side. Both you and Mike are entitled to your views but precisely because you are good friends I don't think you should be dismissing each other under some pretext.

To be honest I've quite out of touch on current politics and policies. My time is consumed by college, lab work, and of course bonsai :D. But fundamentally I can at least understand that any change, requires a vested and prolonged effort. Only if it was as easy as complaining, pressuring politicians, and passing the blame we would not be undergoing these ridiculous debates now. The thing is, myself included, who really takes the time out their day from the grassroots level to improve their communities? Certainly not enough of us. Its important that we educate ourselves and, at times, question legislation but even before that we can take it back several levels and start with our own communities.
 
Personally I find this entire thread a complete frustrating distraction and this is the last I shall post to it.

I'm sorry Vance but this proposed budget puts a lot of funding for needy people at risk.
I live in a county that has one of the highest poverty rates in the state. These program cuts will hit places like this the very hard. I know my Grandmother enjoyed the visit from the meal on wheels delivery guy. She thought he was a very handsome nice young man. He was probably 65 or so. He enjoyed going around and visiting with people too. Now if funding is cut for this program it won't happen.
Education is already running on a shoe string We used to have a killer high school orchestra. I was first chair Tuba player. I even got selected to play in the Michigan all star band and got to be first chair there. Now there is no music there because they can't afford to fund it. They don't even have the money to take a sports team on a bus to games. The parents have to drive them now. The teachers are having to buy school supplies just to teach. My daughter was one. I know.
And wanting to cut funding to the EPA just boggles the mind. Who cleans up or makes sure toxic chemicals don't get into the environment. Who trys to keep the air clean for future generations.
None of these proposed cuts will help anyone. I know I would feel better if I knew some of my tax dollars go to programs that help people in need.
I totally agree we need a good defense budget to keep us safe.
I totally agree too with money for homeland security.
And more money to Veterans Affairs is long overdue.
But at the expense of programs that some people rely on?
I just don't think it's right.
Get the money some other way.
For starters I would fire a whole bunch of secret service guys. Those guys are a joke. Put more dogs on the lawn. Fence jumpers won't be wandering around for over 15 minutes then.

You don't have anything to regret at all Vance.
You followed your heart and your ideals and what you think is right.
There is and can there ever be anything to regret in that.
These are the things I like about most. You stick to your guns and voice what you feel.
Just because you have a differing opinion on some things than I do it doesn't mean or ever mean I could think less of you.
 
Perhaps this humiliating defeat at home, by his own party, will send the message to him that he is no longer playing in Reality TV Land and that you cannot govern by force... neither inside his own country or out.

If he keeps approaching foreign leaders like a loud-mouthed Sumo Wrestler, he will further alienate the U.S. from the rest of the world... in particular regarding trade.

IMHO, it's time to become "Presidential", because as I see it, the first chance that the U.S. Gov't insiders get to impeach him, they are going to jump all over it... the sad part is that his replacement is hardly a nickels worth of a dollar any better than he is.

I have a close friend fighting the crab. If she was in Trumpland, she would have been dead years ago, and her husband and sons begging in the streets.

Here, she's got support not only from the ones who love her, but from society as a whole.

I don't pray for her, I pay for her.

I'm happy and proud to pay taxes so that everyone gets a fair chance to live. Don't call me a "liberal", I'm a socialist. :p
 
PAY TAXES??? You don't live here and you don't pay taxes here unless you have been lying the entire time you have been posting here.. The taxes you pay go to support your immigrant population so that they are free to shoot you, rape your women and set up communities where you are forbidden to go, or afraid to go.
