First off u have no idea how old i am. But either way let me tell how many advantages i had growing up.
Nope nevermind not worth it. I dont know anything about you and i can absolutely guaranfuckingtee i have had no more advantages than you. Quit whining and man the fuck up. I did and it paid off. I suggest you do the same cause the rest of the world gives two shits about your excuses and blame games.

Free shit i had... You dont have a fucking clue.

You're right I got no idea how old you are or what you've grown up with, it was a response to you labelling generation of 20-somethings as lazy because they don't get free college and feel entitled. I wrote my response in a way that assumed your age simply to respond by putting 'you' instead of 'generation of the past' every time. Just replace 'you' with baby boomer then if it upsets you but the truth is the truth.

I don't hate baby boomers or the eras they've lived through, both my parents who divorced when I was 2 worked insanely fucking hard to get what they did. My dad has worked in aerospace for only 2 different employers for his whole damn career, I'm saying that kind of thing was the norm for family guys, now it's a tiny minority for most people.

Quit whining and man the fuck up - I'm not whining, I'm literally relaying you fiscal facts and figures which are widely available and widely accepted to be true, you can't just wipe that off as being an excuse because you don't like it.
I've worked my fucking ass off as well and after the 9 years in a crumbling British steel industry, I've managed to set up my own business which I can no longer take on more work for because I'm too busy so don't tell me to man the fuck up and get on with it. Just because I've done that doesn't mean I see the issues 'us youngsters' face as a generation. My mate literally had to choose between getting married and buying a house, then older folk wonder why the amount of younger people getting married is dropping like a rock.

You can say it's excuses, it's legitimate reasons man. The amount of net worth, value of money, financial security and who earns how much money etc is probably one of the most documented data sets in a first world country, you can't just say it's an excuse when analysis of the facts show that younger generations actually have it much harder than previous ones, bullshit is it an excuse it's the truth regardless of whether you think people are whiners. For some people 'just get on with it' is pushing them into poverty whether they work 10 hours a week or 60.

I don't say this to suggest anyone OWES anyone else anything, I don't feel like I'm owed shit. As I said all most people want is the same opportunity as everyone else had, and not have to be burdened with a government bill someone else generated and then have someone call them fucking LAZY because they don't have as much money as an older guy.

and i dont know what the guy was talking about- but the 80s sucked? the only people winning or living high on the proverbial hog were the rich and powerful - the same as they always have. this hate on baby boomers or some contrived "the previous generation ruined my chance at a good life wah wah" narrative is bullshit.

Yeah I agree about the 80s sucking but like I said, after the busts of the day the boom was far FAR quicker to return and saw economic growth and wages rise fast, it's been basically a decade since the last financial meltdown and wages are barely rising to meet living costs for most. I'm not bitching about not having a good life, I couldn't be happier with what I've got - my own house, nice van for work, a dog and a stable relationship with a baby on the way. However, there is virtually no way I would have been able to be in my financial position without the help I've had from my parents. That is the same for every person my age that I know who owns their home, they had help. The exception of ONE guy I know who has held the same job since he was 16... he lived with his parents until he was 28 saving everything he could to be able to afford a house.

You even said yourself it's fucked! The $60k+ debt that people are instantly born with is insane... that has never existed before and yet you think people who are pissed at having debt for TRYING to achieve something are whiners?
You can't deny that as being really telling of the times compared to a generation where most people had zero education debt and their own home by their early to mid 20s, you just can't. It's not through laziness or hate for older generations, or not trying.

You can mock cry all you want but you can't argue with genuine facts and figures, regardless of how much or little someones perspective comes into it. I'm not trying to make excuses for anyone, I'm literally giving you data to explain WHY younger generations are in pissed at being in a worse financial position than the older folk who call them lazy when they have much less for working more.

Yep, there ya go... when you can't enter a conversation with anything intelligent to say, a good starting point is to start name calling... just the kind of thing that I expected a over-fed "top of the generation" baby boomer to say... LMAO... you've made the point for us, all in one slobbering stupid post!

Byou putting everyone that isn't American except for Fredman on ignore really shortens this thread right up.
I

Try me first.

Obviously Mike, he said that in jest... can't you recognize a joke when you read one?

SK guy, I know exactly what buttons to push to get you LWL types blood going...
BTW Not a Baby boomer...a True Blue War Baby...
I have Grand Children older than you & btw It's time you moved out of your Mothers basement...
I saw your type squashed in the 1960's Haight Ashbury, SF
Take a pill and chill guy, life is too short to exhibit your type of behavior...

lol... you know nothing about me Bolero...

What you and your generation is REALLY worried about is that your baby Trump is likely to be the very last representation you have in federal government... ESPECIALLY after Trump's lunacy.

Look at all of the older famous people who are dropping like flies in the last year alone. It won't be long (assuming Trump makes a full 4 year term) before there won't be any Baby Boomers on the ballot because there won't be any left, and if there are, the populous won't vote for old people anymore... imagine a Gen-X'er getting in and clawing back all of the benefits that you are collecting and making you spend your savings... after all, there is a possibility that the Gov. of California is going to impose a 100% death tax! Oh, the worry!

If I did not love my country so much I would love to sit around and watch what happens when you gang of Sphincters try to pinch off more than you can pass and have to drag your sorry butts around on the grass to clean your poop shoots. When the world you create disintegrates you are going to be crying to mom ma, and trying to blame us for the mess you have.

Ironic that this is literally the exact thing that is happening at the moment. Economics of the 50s-90s at it's finest coming home to roost and passing the repercussions onto future generations when it goes absolutely tits-up. Apart from the previous generations do only have themselves to blame because the completely heinous behaviour of the banking system (which seems to have largely got away with it, Libor scandal - why aren't any of these bankers in jail for destroying the economy for a decade?!) that lead to the economic state is going to take a reaalllly long time to fix, so I feel pretty at ease placing the blame on the ones who had their hands on the levers of power and influence. Considering I was barely able to even vote when it all came crashing down I can safely say that I literally had no sway in the mess we have.
That being said I'm pretty sure we're likely to create all kinds of our own mess to hand on to our children and so on.

Where's the thumbs up emote?

You and Bolero are the shining example of what I'm talking about... and Trump is a true representation of both you and your generation.

You've made off with more than your fill at the public trough and now in your later years you are still short that one thing that you wanted the most all along, reverence. And, just like Trump, because you can't get an accurate picture of yourself in everyone else's eyes because of the abundance of gluttony you've afforded yourselves, you will die being the most reviled generation and individuals in modern history.

I have yet to see any vaults in coffins, but I have seen respect, dignity, and reverence, but rarely have I ever seen it when someone in your age group was laying in the bottom of it.

Considering that we had generations that committed genocide, imposed, advanced and embraced slavery, led us into wars that killed tens of thousands of young American men, led us into terrible recessions and depressions (1807, 1815, 1873, 1929, e.g.) worse than anything any of us has seen, that's a pretty strong condemnation of the Boomers, especially since they did bring us levels of technological advancement, wealth, health and fitness unlike anything we'd ever seen.

perspective comes through age or personal growth or sometimes - not at all.....

I've got to agree that SKB's last statement was pretty harsh and over exaggerated. Totally fucking the economy for future generations and then calling those generations lazy whiners for being pissed about it is pretty laughable, but come on compared to modern history it's not even 1% as bad as the other shit that's happened.

For "some" Americans yes, but tell that same thing to the millions of people "off-shore" who have suffered because of American Foreign Policy, largely at the hands (or decisions) of the people born in the Baby Boomer era in the U.S.A. A quick search brought up this link (possibly not that credible) that suggests the possibility of up to 2 million since the war on terror began. http://www.middleeasteye.net/column...ave-killed-four-million-muslims-1990-39149394

Let me point out that before the Bush's entered power, there was no big problem with the Middle East or any Muslim faction.

The only reason the U.S. went there was for the oil.... oil that Canada had/has in abundance and were more than willing to sell to the U.S. How many barrels of oil came out of Iraq and how many American Service men and women died or were maimed... and now equate those casualties to a cost or a life/barrel of oil equivalent. If I was an American, ever time I filled my tank, I'd be thinking about the "cost per human life per tank" (military and civilian) that these Administrations have cost us, and then also divide into that, the 7 Billion dollars the war cost, plus the loss in positive perception towards Americans as a whole to top it all off... now, tell me the "cost per tank, or the cost per gallon of that precious volatile liquid.
