The future of our planet

Mike, I like your latest post (but for the last line, but I could have written that myself, you know, sometimes it seems so... that you...)

BTW, I've just heard on the radio that Trump loves elephants : his sons are now allowed to kill more (not for food, but because Americans are great again probably) because it's an endangered species.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/16/world/africa/trump-elephant-trophy.html

Wow! Perhaps some environmental-friendly commies took advantage of the Russian connection. Yes, he loves elephants. Let's slaughter them. NRA, help us, you know how to kill people, sorry how guns kill people, let's show that we can kill elephants: isn't Amerika great again?...

Waiting for the next tweet: "Kill all rhinos in North Korea and everywhere to protect them!" o_O

I know you don't like this kind of music but what this guy writes about the enviornment, war, politics and the bible are very impelling.
Listen to songs like Symphony of Destruction,Polaris,Holy Wars and the song above.

Shameful. Just shameful.

Actually I believe China is or will be shortly. Their leaders are smart.
They are putting renewable energy sources like solar and wind power up all over their country.
If you don't care about the environment is sad.
Not even close, Mike. My wife spent 10 days there earlier this month and never saw the sun once due to the smog. They may be initiating some renewable energy technologies over there, but their air quality has a LONNNNNNNG way to go before it even comes close to ours, even in our worst smog cities like LA.

I think what they will wind up doing is developing/producing all the technology (renewable energy related) and then selling it to us. You know, instead of developing it here, creating jobs here. Instead we waste our time talking about a stupid wall.

"very impelling."

That's compelling for people who speak English.

And the huge type doesn't make the drivel this guy writes any more compelling.

Mike you are a very confused person. Stick to writing about Bonsai where at least you have a clue.

They are the reason Trump just reversed the Ivory Ban.

Oh, you've got it, man: what the f*** with the environment, or endangered species?

We'll make enough money to be safe on our island, with our ménagerie. F*** the rest of the world.

Money is the root of all evil. Apparently, the US protestants made it a virtue. they're probably visionaries, they make the end of the world even nearer. Halleluiah!

There was a knight who was sentenced to death. The king granted him the choice of his death. He asked to be drowned in a barrel of wine.

Most are not ready to commit suicide, but when I read them, I think of that true story. The problem is that they're taking their children, and family, and friends, and neighbours with them.

"Piss off and drink your expired bottled water..."

Well, I often meet strangers here. I live in a middle-sized city, about 200,000 people.

My word of honour, I never turned a stranger away, I rather offered them a meal and shelter. We're different, aren't we?...

No gun, no gate (it's always opened because it rusted), no race or religion or political exclusive (except for racist fascuists of course), food we share, French, Jamaicans, Norwegians, Scots, Turks, Italians, Catalans, Poles, etc...

Europe is such a small continent that it's wonderful to exchange with hulmanists from around "our" world. at least, we are not belittled by the Russian or US gross tourists I met when travelling.

GFY! and your socialist EU

Alas! Europe is getting less and less socialist.

The far-right is gaining momentum again, just like in the 30s. Racism, nationalism, religious bigotry. Poland, Hungary, ready to draw swastikas on their flags.

I hope that we can rise up and avoid another cycle of wars. Of course, the Trump administration won't help (do they know what the clown in chief really wants, apart from getting more money and grabbing women by the pussy?), but I still think we can manage, all the more than the US is shrinking in all aspects (expect from polluting the rest of the world).

We'll play with the Chinese, yes, they're much more intelligent. It's always riskier to play with good challengers, but that's much more rewarding in the end.

Yes, maybe elephants should be wiped out, who will shed a tear?...

"To them" what ?

Your contribution to what?

The love of money? Obesity? How to topple democraticly elected governments to put in place religious dictatorships like you did all through the 20th century, and before, to serve your own petty interests, then try to fight them for the benefit of a few happy ones?

You (I don't mean all US citizens, but people like you) have been the major source of conflicts and wars for decades, so you'd better put it down.

People like you are sinking in dirty, muddy waters and you don't even realize it. Because those who put this administration into power, I shoulkd say this family (like the way they understand it in Sicilia) are just either totally stupid, or criminals.

Anyway, the big-mouthed chief has clay heels: he hasn't achieved anything so far at home, the US diplomacy is a laughing stock around the world (I know you don't know, but you should know even if you can't speak any foreign languuuuage - private joke)

I also think that most people contributing to this forum are white, at least middle-aged, upper-middle-class people, and that the most extremist opinions here are not the voice of all citizens in the US.

But some here are real caricatures of why when you travel abroad and the locals think you're "American" they ask you: "Why don't you Americans like us?..."

Your contribution to what?

Well, for you to be eating crepes instead of sourkraut? The U.S. did help liberate France from Germany, twice.

The pot calling the kettle black? France, as well as others, has a long history of conquest for the love of money, albeit mostly long ago. But it is there, none the less.

Maybe those who put this one in power see differently. Have you always been happy with your political leaders?

You might just be surprised how many agree with "extremist" opinions. I would be willing to speculate that most of the middle class has "extremist" opinions in your eyes. But you are probably right, the middle class is getting smaller and when we are gone, there goes the rest of the country's free lunch.

Agree and disagree with parts of your post. True, "the way it was" is gone and not coming back. But "the way it is" doesn't have to suffer the same fate. We were able to stop the destruction of the ozone layer by eliminating use of a group of chemicals. We can slow down or stop other processes as well, provided that humans stop being so selfish and short-sighted.
And the US stops our selfish and shortsighted leadership.

This question may have a lot of technicalities to it, maybe the transmission of bonsai to the rest of the world has some discontinuity from Japan where the environment is revered there; but, how does one practice bonsai and can claim to give the environment the finger?

the US is shrinking in all aspects (expect from polluting the rest of the world).

You are what we call here a piece of shit, whining little bitch without a clue - Come live here and understand instead of reading your tabloid papers which are for no good reason influencing your life and thoughts... Serious, no way you have a clue how the world and our Nation works, even worse what we have done for you and yours while sacrificing our lives for you.

Before you make another statement please read about your countries past and our involvement, maybe even research the Statue of Liberty a bit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Liberty ... I have no clue why you are so opposed to the USA and am certain it is for your lack of knowledge.

I usually avoid these threads but hey on a Historical note I have done more for humanity then anyone in your country today several times and remember my forefathers saved your ass -

.

Quite right.

In both cases they waited first to be attacked, second to be sure that their own interests came first.

Lusitania, Pearl Harbor.

But yes, thanks. Jazz, and all the black musicians and writers who found a place where they could be treated as equal, could seat at the same table, be friend and even marry and have children regardless of their origins or skin coliur or religion. Thank you for sending us your poor, your destitute, ...

Right again.

A former prsident of ours (a little one) even convinced the US to back an attack against terrorism (actually, a way of avoiding question about the funding of his campaign I think). It actually started the kind of terrorist cancer that the US sowed in Iran from the 50s, then in various parts of the world, always with short-term profits for the war industry, often at the expense of its youth, never to gain any power (Shall I name the places?)

Well, you can disagree with the policies of a chief of state, and I have, but I've never had to argue against a liar or a crook, I mean, not ever to that extent.

"Truth is lies war is peace"

I don't think that DDT has ever read 1984, and I'm afraid it's almost an insult if I ask some here if they've read it, but it's just what it is in the "Great brother"'s world. Fake news is the truth. Imbeciles rule. Amerikka great again.

Well, when I wrote "extremist", I meant far-right of course.

"the middle class is getting smaller and when we are gone, there goes the rest of the country's free lunch."

The world’s eight richest billionaires control the same wealth between them as the poorest half of the globe’s population:

https://www.theguardian.com/global-...richest-people-have-same-wealth-as-poorest-50

If you're satisfied with this world, I'm not. You want to preserve a world where some thank for the crumbs they get from the few, while billiond starve? I don't.

And I don't need a god for that when I see what any god or whatsisname is the alibi for injustice.

I used to believe in the message of Jesus when I was a child. That's perhaps why as an adult, who now knows that religion is pure fary tales, I'm a "socialist".

sacrificing our lives for you

No, you've never.

The capitalists that you put into power made you think so.

I do respect the men who died in the wars, whether in WWI, WWII, Indochina, Vietnam, etc.

On either sides, they were all victims.

Now, with this gross stupid bully that's your president, what disaster is ahead?

This time I think it won't be because of US interference, I think it will be because because of its big-mouthed vulgar president, the US has no belly.

You know, it's like in the primary-school playground, when the big-mouthed kid tells everyone that he's the chief and gets back home with a blue eye.

He'll get back home, find a soft shoulder to cry upon and tweet, tweet, tweet...

Adair,
You speak of Jazz musicians as if they created their musical idiom out of thin air. This is not true. They were shaped by the adversities they faced over time. Billie Holiday didn't sing like she did because she grew up in a bed of roses. Miles Davis came from a well to do family as did Duke Ellington and were still told to go in by the back door. Art Pepper (a white guy) was a heroin addict and went to jail for it. He came out of prison and resumed his playing career and became famous for his incredible playing. Many of the jazz greats had to overcome adversity in their lives. These adversities shaped their playing. Without their adversities they would have been bland nobodies. In your own country there was Django from the looked down upon Gypsy's who only had two fingers due to being burned in a fire. You continue to show that you are clueless as to how things really work.

Ok, now we argue about the environment! Awesome!

I am on the front lines of seeing what is happening with our environment. I am a paid professional with 2 science degrees to go with it. I see it every day, every week, every year for the past 25 years.

You people that say climate change is a hoax are blind and haven't got a fucking clue.

I'd explain further but I don't have the time or the inclination to waste my breath and my time trying to explain it to you.

Why?

Because your mind is already made up and it's a waste of time trying to convince someone that has already made up their mind.

Plus, it's the weekend and I've had enough of stupid people at work this week.

Good luck, Have fun
