    Possible Maple disease

Thanks for the quick reply Al. I lost a very large maple to that last summer. Do you suggest I get rid of this guys from that clump altogether? I don't believe the roots have begun to fuse yet.

    Possible Maple disease

I haven't posted to this forum in quite some time, but I have a problem that has me stumped. I have a couple of maple clumps planted through plexi glass. The one in the photo is about 3 years old, but this year one of the trees is not looking so great. The one next to it is in the same...

If anyone has some they'd be willing to sell and ship. I'd be more than happy to pay for them. Thanks.

    Maple dying

The last photo is of a larger maple that I cut to remove a large scar and encourage healing this past spring. It was well healing and at the top of the cut there is some rolled over tissue, but within the last couple of weeks this die back happened. We just had about 9 or 10 days of triple...

    Maple dying

I'm starting to think I may have it in a few of my palmatums. Can you guys tell me if this is leaf burn or possible verticullum wilt? Also the shot of the trunk I'm pretty sure is wilt and I have a feeling this tree is what brought it to my yard.

    Maple dying

Thanks for the reply Al. What do you suggest as far as a chemical treatment? I have a ton of other Japanese maples and seedlings that I'm worried about. Does this affect tridents?

    Maple dying

I am slowly losing one of my Japanese maples and I think its way beyond saving. I noticed about a week ago that all of the leaves shriveled up on it and the trunk began turning black. The green bark around the base and about 1/3 of the way up the trunk is completely black and any branches in...

    Pest concern!!!

I spoke to a few people and its looking like its citrus white flies. All the things I saw were just different stages of the white flies. More than likely they will stick to the lemon tree, but I may treat with a systemic made for citrus trees just to be on the safe side.

    Pest concern!!!

I was outside this morning doing yard work and my neighbor has a huge lemon tree in their side yard that spills over into my yard. I started trimming it back to the fence line and as I was chopping up the branches to put in my trash, I noticed on one of the small branches there was a section...

    Differnt types of trident maples

I have a few trident maples in my yard that have two distinctive leaf types. The leaf on the right is a cutting from a larger tree that was purchased a couple of years ago. The tree on the left is a year old seedling. I personally like the one on the left better. I guess what I'm looking...

    Root grafting from similar species

I've been working on a cork elm that was given to me while back and one of its major faults is lack of roots on one side. I have been planning on grafting new roots to that side with rooted cuttings. Many of the cuttings I took last year didn't take, but I am trying again this year with a...

    California Shohin convention 2012

Anybody have any idea of what workshops are still open? I wasn't really planning on doing one, but I hear there might still be space. I got an email awhile back with what opening were left, but I wanted to see if anyone had an up to date list. Ready to get my shohin on!!!

Large Trident Maple & First Post

Very nice piece of material. That sucker is huge, I'm very jealous. Pic 3 would be my choice for the front . Personally, I would chop it flat right below where all those branches shoot out and let it back bud to start a new leader or if one of those branches will work use that as the leader...
