Top 3 in the United States

I think a good argument could be had that @William N. Valavanis could take the cake for most top three varieties in the US. Here's a few more that I really love looking at.

Top 3 in the United States

I think there are some, but not sure about how comprehensive. Maybe if you find a tree that you consider in the top 3 you can post it and i'd bet some Nut can identify the owner/artist/craftsmen.

Top 3 in the United States

I'd love to see pictures of the trees that come to mind when you think about the top three best for each variety/species in the United States. The trees could be in any size or stage of development and i'd love to see many different varieties/species(Pines-Black, White, Pondo, Lodgepole...

Biogold falling apart after first rainfall after applying.

Yah, no issues here, very likely not a bad batch. I'm a big fan of bio gold for trees in refinement.

    Bonsai Heresy

I think i've read Post Dated 4-5 times, it's great because through reading you get to experience a Bonsai apprenticeship in Japan but it's without the whole sacrifice everything to move to Japan, work like a slave, no pay and don't take days off kinda thing. Very different book than Bonsai Heresy

    Bonsai Heresy

Got this a couple days ago and i'm about 80% through it. I'm going to have to give it the highest of recommendations for any Bonsai geek out there! One of the most challenging things i've experienced as a hardcore Bonsai enthusiast is sorting out good info from the bad. Michael does a...

    A little advice

It looks to me like someone cut the primary branch which was connected to the now dead branch. While it's hard to tell it appears that it was cut too closely to the branch which ended up dying. I believe I can see water and sap loss, you'll generally want to leave a stub and respect the collar...

Since the OP is currently apprenticing in Japan and this is an older thread now, I sure would love to hear if he has any opinions or techniques he's learned for growing trunks? @bleumeon Personally i've been experimenting with field growing, raised beds, container growing, colanders, and...

How's the quality of tools made by American Bonsai?

It's interesting that it says their tools are made in the US on their site now and that they told Adair they were made in China. I asked the vendors at the 2017 GSBF booth for "American Bonsai" where they were made and they said they were not allowed to tell me that. This turned me off a bit...

How's the quality of tools made by American Bonsai?

Does anyone else think it's odd that there's a company called American Bonsai which makes tools that are not made in America. Pretty sure they are made in China. This is coming from a Chinese American who bought their Star Wars themed shirt at a convention because it looked cool. There...

Japanese Apricot, kumquat, and flowering plum

I'm guessing that the Japanese Apricot/Plum you are referring to is Prunus Mume, or "Ume." This tree flowers in late winter without leaf and is prized for the contrast in old rough bark, deadwood and beautiful flowers. The confusing part is that Ume is related to both apricot and plum and...
