This is such a great progression thread and a great tree! I love it with the eggshell and the sempervirens.
Nice work with that bargain 'mistake' tree

lol embarrassing, you’re totally right, I confused you with another user. But I still love your work!Thank you for saying!
Unfortunately the Larch progression is def not mine. I’ve always wanted to give larch a try but do not own one.
Not embarrassing at all! An easy mix up. Thank you!lol embarrassing, you’re totally right, I confused you with another user. But I still love your work!
Tree is doing well. Though I did have some foliage dieback over the winter. I think my second pinch last season was later than I should have. How’s tree doing. Like your progression thread here. Recently picked up one and was thinking of doing some deadwood on it but don’t see many with deadwood however have not seen tons of examples in general of Hinoki bonsai.
Looking good thanks for the update. Have you continued to open up deadwood on trunk or kind of once and done thing you did?Tree is doing well. Though I did have some foliage dieback over the winter. I think my second pinch last season was later than I should have.
I also re-potted, which I’m not in love with its current iteration. The tree def does not take advantage of the height its scale. The rock it’s in is way too big.
I need to decide how to handle the pot situation.
I also need to completely h wire and re-wire the tree, possibly jinning several branches.
Here it is none the less.
I think that's the way to go, but there's no harm in continuing to develop the existing branches. It'll give more complexity to the jins of the future.im strongly considering opening up this tree much more. Jinning multiple branches.
Agreed. I’m going to mull it over more and more before making any big changesI think that's the way to go, but there's no harm in continuing to develop the existing branches. It'll give more complexity to the jins of the future.
