Hi, yes I've noticed that too.. Never purchased for that reason.. The trees I have bought to work on in the past have come from Kaizen.. But got into looking on eBay recently....
Good luck with earning a few quid with your creativity mate..

some recent work on a Mother n Child Hornbeam, will be available in a few weeks

will never be one for great taper. but it has a very good basic structure and in a few years will become extremely well ramified.

maybe a tree you would see in the park

i decided this one could go straight into a bonsai pot, as the basic primary structure is already exceptionally good, just needs to ramify

the small hollows on this tree aren't really part of a feature. as this tree ramifies they will be barely visible through the structure. i used a little kyonel on the edges and cleaned up with a scalpel. all wounds were made concave with a termite ball.

How thick is the trunk on the mother child and the top tree?

Thanks, what about the top tree?
you mean the top of the tree in relation to the base?
well you have a leader...then a trunk, the trunk doesnt change much in diameter from base to top, as this tree isnt one for taper.
is this what youre getting at?

i mentioned that this tree wont be one for great taper earlier in thread.

No, sorry I meant the other tree at the top of the thread. The right tree in your post above this one

ah you mean the tree from post 1! the base fills the pot, around 10in

these were all re potted in the last few weeks, starting to bud out now after being kept in greenhouse

all powerful trees with potential, just raw but many options20190319_155534.jpg20190319_155516.jpg
