When I built this wall and put the walnut shelf up I put a receptacle on each end so my wife could decorate for the holidays.
So far only the barrels and faqin house is electric. Not as nice as @Carol 83 s and nothing matches but it's a start.
The red cabin has pine cone seeds fro shingles

This was my 1st and favourite Father Christmas. Ceramic, I got it at OgleBay park in Wheeling, WV (Northern panhandle tip)
They have acres of drive through Christmas displays and scenes. I feel sorry for the locals as it jams up the roads all season.Winter Festival of Lights - Oglebay
Hotels fill up early, pretty big deal around that tri-state area, and one of the nations top light displays.

I have them because putting the village up always puts me in the holiday spirit, and this year I really need that. I have them because my kids always liked it, and even as an adult my son still likes it. They are just buildings with scenes that are illuminated from behind, not like a dollhouse you can play with.
