Oh...and as an aside

I would not prune these yet. I would wait till around first week in march.

Will prune in Feb. Did you use cut paste on your tree?

Are you planning on selling some of those?, I will not mind doing a quick trip and dig a couple, if price is right

Not yet. I will be hollowing out the scars a little for flatter healing, and I had to buy a new die grinder cause I smoked mine at work cutting tile over head. Tile dust into the front bearing does not work well!

When I refresh the cut I will seal, probably this weekend.

Feb would be a good time. I do not like cutting maples this early but when digging sometimes it can't be helped. Waiting is better for the tree to be in the active sap pushing stage.

I have a couple of plots with trees . I have pines, maples, junipers, Chinese quince, grapes lots of other varities. I have about 50 or so tridents. The oldest plot is about 5 years old. I plant every year. They are for sale . Message me for more info. It is fun stuff! I have over a thousand muscat grape vines that are close to a hundred years old.
