Thanks for the encouragement and pointers Boon!
The green pot was my 1st attempt at slab construction, and learned a lot for the errors that were made (proportions, joints, finishing). The crawl rectangle is my 2nd effort, corrected the problems I had with the 1st (other than the slight warp).

ketoi,

Great selection of finished pots.

You are doing a nice job with the reticulating glazes.

Are they commercial brands?

You mentioned having to fire the pots upside down. Why?

I have been working with a cone 10 reticulating glaze base lately. Adding different colorants, combining with different clay bodies. The results have been encouraging.

Keep up the good work.

Paul

Thanks Paul!

The crawl glaze will not adhere to the horizontal surfaces of the bowls so I fire them upside down, and its from Coyote Color & Clay. Made a batch ^6 black lava, looks like mud more than lava, need to tweak it more.

Faceted pot with homemade butterscotch glaze, applied too thick and ruined a shelf getting it off.

Ketoi, I think the "low fire lava with red accents" is fantastic! I also really like the green rustic round in your early post. Do you sell pots or are you doing this for your own enjoyment?

You can use glass etching cream to reduce the shine and create a matte patina.

All three are covered in a manganese dioxide wash but each has a different application method

Dripped; filled the sponge with the wash squeezed it above the pot so it drip into the cracks

Dipped and sponged off

Brushed and sponged off

ketoi,

Great looking pots.

The oxide washes seem to work very well.

Keep them coming.

Paul

wow, the managnese is being good to you. Just remember that manganese dioxide is a very dangerous inhalation hazard, which I'm sure you know, but other's may not.

The pots in post #27 are awesome and the little oval mame is excellent

Ketoi, you really have to make the third annual bonsai plant sale. It is going to be coming up soon as we are trying different times of the year in an effort to see which season works best.

Also the Kazari is coming up soon, hoping you might come down witha box or two of pots, I know I would be buying two or twelve!

See ya soon, Al

Thanks for the encouraging comments everyone!

I know quite a few excellent potters and I don't feel I'm in that league. I'm more of a trial and error enthusiest, try this and that and move on to the next technique.

I love the way that came out. Can't wait to see it tried on the square and rectangular pots.
